The jail ministry of course has always been in the heart of Jesus and Christians burdened for the lost souls of this world since the early church. (Acts 16).  Part of His ministry, Jesus said was…

Isaiah 42:7  To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

Psa 69:33  For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.

This, in stark contrast to the desire of our enemy,  Lucifer or Satan as he is more commonly known:

Isa 14:17  That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?

How often have we been first hand witnesses to the truth of these verses, working at Lee County Jail, and with families facing the reality of their choices.

We praise God here at First Baptist Church Amboy that Pastor Fritz and his wife Carol, and the good people of our church family, have had a burden for the incarcerated in this area by bringing the Gospel and ministry of reconciliation into their hearts, lives, and families. Many people over some 30 years have been touched because of this desire to impact the mission field for the LORD.

Uniting and working with the established ministry of Law and Grace Ministries, under Jim and Linda Stroup, missionaries to the criminal justice system. Don and Pamela volunteer and assist because. “ The law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.” John 1:17

Some  of the tools used in this ministry are outreach to inmates and their families with in home Bible studies, prayer, or visits of encouragement   (see photo).
  • Prayer, much prayer.
  • We have Bible studies designed to help an inmate grow while incarcerated.  Which they can learn not not only to be a better spouse and parent and member of society,  as they earn Bible certificates for each courses.
  • Rides to church events and  court ordered requirements.
  • In home discipleship courses designed for the families and inmate to work on mending addictions and abuse sins together.
  • Help in finding a Bible believing church where you will be surrounded by the first support group - the local church, the body of Christ.
  • Bibles if needed
It is our prayer that these tools will help to not only show their lost condition if necessary, but also assist them who have a desire to grow spiritually strong..
Acts 16:25  And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

Act 16:29  Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
Act 16:30  And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
Act 16:31  And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
